Featured Five: Fall Foliage–Buckingham Pond

ImageCan we fit a few more fall walks in before the snow flies? Let’s go ultra-local, and take a stroll around Buckingham Pond!

Buckingham Pond, accessible off Berkshire Drive in Albany, is about 1/2 mile long, and covers 5 acres. Protected and maintained by the Buckingham Pond Conservancy, the pond features a 20 car parking lot, a humble stock of perch, bluegill, and bullhead, and a lovely new playground for the neighborhood children: the ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11/10!

Our daylight hours are growing short, but for an area so easily accessed, that’s no reason to miss out on a solid stroll in one of the most coveted and beloved neighborhoods in Albany proper, with single family homes beside tree-lined streets, and the park and pond area adding to the ambience.
