Weather Channel: It Could Happen Tomorrow – NYC Hurricane

This is a Weather Channel episode from the series It Could Happen Tomorrow, profiling a Category 3-4 hurricane hitting New York City. The episode is based upon a report I wrote regarding how such a severe storm would impact people, property, and real estate in the vulnerable areas in New York City. I wrote the report in 2005 while working for New York State Assemblyman Richard L. Brodsky. Below is a copy of the full report and the episode. The episode is part drama, part science, and part history. Hopefully Sandy is nothing like the storm portrayed in the episode, and by many accounts it’s not going to be as strong. However, because these are quick moving storm systems, it’s very difficult to predict the precise landfall that will make all of the difference.
