We recently sat down and learned more about J. Foley Photography for our latest Small Biz 518.

Jeff and Jeanette Foley make up J. Foley Photography (JFP), which is located in Saratoga Springs. They love chasing the once-in-a-lifetime moments of a wedding day together.

JFP has won WeddingWire’s Couples’ Choice Award for the past five years. The company also was voted Saratoga Photographer of the Year in 2014 (Adirondack-Albany Wedding Association’s Regional Choice Awards), and JFP won the Best of 2009 Portrait Award (Capital Region PhotoCenter).

Jeff has photographed more than 400 weddings, and he also draws from his experience as a freelance photographer for newspapers (Newsday, Albany Times Union). He has made portraits of athletes such as Eli Manning (New York Giants) and musicians such as Matt and Kim.

Jeff said, “This is the only job I’ve had that I have not gotten bored. It’s always challenging. It’s ever-changing. When we meet with clients – it’s not about what we do as photographers – it’s about them.”

Jeff describes his business as a team. He owns the business with his wife Jeanette. The couple also has three kids and they all work together to make the business work. Their son has assisted them on engagement sessions, and their teenage daughter has watched their baby daughter when the couple is working.

Jeff says, “It is really cool to know that we have built something that our kids can participate in, and will hopefully provide for them and their families as well.”

Jeff explains, “Our best days end with somebody giving us a hug at the end of the night, and saying, ‘Thank you for being there. It was like having friends document our wedding.'”
