According to the Business Albany Review, GlobalFoundries is set to expand its Malta campus by building a second factory. It is reported that approximately 15% of the new factory will be located just over the town line in Stillwater. The Saratoga County expansion will take place on the same campus where GlobalFoundries moved its headquarters in the spring of 2021. Currently, the company employs around 2,600 people at the Malta complex, according to a recent company survey. The new factory is expected to create an additional 1,000 jobs. Land use attorney Matt Jones, a partner at Jones Steves Attorneys at Law in Saratoga Springs, which helped guide the GlobalFoundries project through the planning approval process, stated, “This is the most significant project in Saratoga County and perhaps upstate New York.”
